Jeannie Burt

Jeannie Burt was raised on a wheat and cattle ranch in Oregon.

But by middle school, she hungered for a broader world than she found in the small farming community.  Getting away for college did that.

The university she attended was a satisfactory six-and-a-half hour drive away from the constrictions of her youth. But a year studying in Italy was even farther and better. While there, she traveled, most memorably to France where she teethed on Impressionist art. Art became her one life-long addiction; life without it was no life at all.

Even now, when there's time, she occasionally picks up a canvas and brush, but saves the rest of the world the torture of seeing her output. Her husband is patient with this as well as with her need to travel. She has managed to live in San Francisco, New York and Milan. She still adores Paris and visits often.

Her husband is also patient with her need to write, the one activity that kept her sane during a career in business and corporate human resources. Her writing has gained critical praise, and been nominated for the Pushcart prize. She is now listed as one of the prominent Gale Cengage Contemporary Authors.
